Ron and I just got back from a very relaxing, fun, week-long trip down the coast. We started last Sunday driving down to Monterey, CA. We stayed two nights and attended a very cool drunken Greek Festival, went to the aquarium, and had a beautiful beach front dinner with champagne. Great start to the rest of the week... We then made our way down the coast on Wed towards Santa Barbara. We stopped in Morro Bay.. beautiful and also a few wineries from Monterey to Santa Barbara. We arrived in Santa Barbara on Wed night just in time to check into the hotel and have a wonderful sushi dinner. We where pretty beat that night, but the next day we were up early and ready to go to the beach. Santa Barbara was beautiful and the water was warm! We brought a bottle of wine from the vineyards along the way... we sat at the beach and walked on the pier..where we then shared a whole crab soaked in garlic butter....mmmmm...so delicious. Then we rented bikes and road along the whole coast line for about 2 hours. Thursday night we had dinner on the beach.. I mean literally ON THE BEACH. we had two fold out chair in the car ad we ordered a really nice pizza and sat and watched the sunset..again sipping on wine from local vineyards!

After 2 days in Santa Barbara we made our way to San Diego which was wonderful! We checked into the Marriott in LaJolla. I don't know if anyone has been to LaJolla, but it is gorgeous! I loved it there.. I think it may be one of the best beaches I've every been to! AND I've been to a lot all over the world.. I was very impressed. It was super romantic! later that night we picked up Ron's son for dinner because it was his birthday...Happy Birthday Ramsey!.

The next day I laid by the pool and rested since I could feel the traveling through the week starting to drag me down. I rested very well by the saline pool and took a 3 hour nap... needless to say that night I was ready to go! We had dinner in Little Italy and then back to our hotel where there was a latin band and lounge area to chill.. that was fun.

Lastly on Saturday we went to Coronado... the Hotel del Coronado was beautiful and we hung out on the deck drinking cocktails during the day. Just as the sun was going to set we had dinner at one of their restaurants on the water... I had lobster bisque soup and the Filet Mignon with garlic truffle butter. Ron had the gorgonzola house salad, and ciopino of course topped with a bottle of wine! The sunset was extraordinary.. I felt like I was in Hawaii! It was phenomenal and a perfect way to end a perfect week! Sunday we woke up at 5 am and was on the road by 5:30. We arrived in Davis at 12:30, just in time to relax, unpack and start my second year graduate school!

Best,
E~
